Melvin M. Rosenblatt, CPA - Former Chairman and CEO Expertise: When Mel became the third person at the firm, he suspected that the firm wouldn't stay small for long. "I was attracted to the firm, because I saw that Nate (Greenberg) would drive it forward and make it significant," he said. "I also saw an opportunity to be in on the ground floor." He was right on both counts. Initially Nate served as his mentor. They soon found that their difference in age was an asset. Many of their clients owned family businesses, and Nate typically worked with the founding generation while Mel worked with the next generation. "We quickly developed a mutual respect for each other," he said. "I inherited from him the understanding of the need to develop personal relationships. It's something we focus on in conducting this business." Mel's work evolved from auditing financial records to playing a management role for clients, often serving as the external equivalent of a chief financial officer or a company director. He has worked on mergers of companies that sold for hundreds of millions of dollars and, working with investment banking firms on Wall Street, he has helped take companies public, including Ames Department Stores. In his 50 years as an accountant, Mel's greatest sense of reward has come from his ability to make a difference in people's lives. Civic Activities: Memberships: Education:
